How Does Eggman Exist? Options

In everything that I've ever read about Prof. Gerald, says that he is Eggman's grandfather. (We all know this)

However he had a daughter named Maria. Who was killed aboard the Ark before Shadow was sent to earth. She was killed as a child/teen.

Anyway she was killed at such a young age that it wouldv'e been impossible for her to have given birth to Eggman.

Another possibility though is that Maria was Eggman's aunt. That Gerald had another child who were Eggman's parents.

But this raises another interesting point! Where are they? Sonic's world or Chris'?

I know that for some of these questions, nobody has the answers for but they are still good questions. (in my opinion)

If anybody knows anything that I don't please tell me.

Maria is Eggman's cusion and Gerald's grandaughter.

It says this in the Sonic Adventure 2 Manual.

As LordFear said, Maria is Eggman's cousin. This also gives us a rough indication of Eggman's age (cousins are usually within 5 or so years of each other)...

What I want to know is, how did Eggman get to Sonic's world in the first place?

I have my own theory on this, but I wanna see what other people think first...

Well, episode 49 states the Sonic's world and Earth originated as the same planet.

We already know that Sonic's world and Earth have drastically different time rates (2 Earth days= 1 Sonic week), so, being 15 in his years, Sonic was probably born around 4 earth years ago.

I'm assuming that a second world was somehow formed from Earth (maybe due to Gerald experimenting with Chaos Control), which then broke off and quickly evolved into it's own existance.

It's my guess that Eggman was (well, quite obviously) born on Earth, then somehow sent to this new world at a VERY young age (remember, he has no knowledge of ever being on Earth prior to SA2). This could have been through Gerald attempting Chaos Control, or by some other freak accident.

However, as we know Eggman is somewhere in his sixties (an estimate, judging from Maria's age 50 years ago). Therefore, Sonic's world must have been created around 60 years ago, as Eggman would have to have been VERY young at the time to have no memories of Earth. Either that, or his memory got wiped or something...

If Sonic's world has been around for around 60 Earth years, that means it would be in it's 210th year of existence in it's own time... (roughly)

Still, that explains WHEN, but not exactly HOW. But knowing Gerald, it was probably due to some crazy accident...

I'm not convinced of that, Rapid. Wasn't it stated earlier on in the series that Sonic's world and Earth were once one and the same? It doesn't necessarily mean that Earth is the original version, but rather more likely that the worlds were split in prehistoric ages and given to evolve seperately.

Technology in Sonic's world is far more advanced than on Earth (as Tails states clearly in Ep 2), so it doesn't make sense that a world created through Chaos Control 210 years ago would be far more advanced than the original world in such a short span of time. You can't claim that Eggman caused the supernaturally-accelerated tech evolution, because Tails is easily as competent in machine-creation, and his skill doesn't seem regarded as anything particularly unique by his native friends.

Yeah, I guess even Sonic's world couldn't develop so much in just 210 years.

The only reason I assumed that Sonic's world was created around 60 years ago was because, if Sonic and co were around before the planets split, that would cause major confusion.

But yeah, I guess it'd work too if they were split AAAGES ago too. ^^ I always got the impression they were split recently, for some weird reason.

Haven't you heard the history?The true history of Sonic Adventure 2 is this:

The Space Colony ARK has always been on Earth. the day the military guards came to shut down the colony,Maria was 11 years old,and Eggman was 2 years old. Yes, Eggman is 52 years old. When Gerald died,he knew all about Chaos Control and all the Chaos Emeralds. The way he found out was an expirement that went wrong and set a reverse Sonic X.(He went to the other world.) After his death years later,Eggman's parents found the diary,used Chaos Control to send him to the other world,and his mother went. Eggman's father died and the original Robotnik family disappeared from Earth. Eggman's mother died after a few years in the other world and he was left to care for himself. When his mother died, Eggman learned more and more of his past,learned about the whole Chaos Emerald deal,and thought that was why he was all alone. Just read Gerald Robotnik's diary entry from SA2 very,very carefully:


'I don't quite know what happened or what went wrong.Was it a mistake to create the Ultimate Life Form?I thought it would be something to benefit mankind,but then the military guards landed on the colony that day.They were sent to destroy the research project that I had been working on.My colleagues at the research facility,my grandaughter Maria-I hope you are all safe.The colony was completely shut down,probrobly to keep the prototype from falling into the wrong hands.The ARK was shut down under the premise that there had been an accident. I found Maria's name amoung those who died when the ARK was shut down.She meant everything to me,and I couldn't bear the thought that she had died because of my research!I lost everything,I had nothing more to live for!I went insane!All I could think about is to avenge her...somehow,someway.I got scared as I was no longer able to control my thoughts.All I could think about was how I wanted it all to end. Bold statements coming from you Echindaguardian. anyway, if this is not a ploy to destroy the foundations of our homes through sound waves, we could just use headphones, and it would be easier to hear. and there really is no time for Gerald to say what you said he said, cuz right when he is about to finish, Rouge starts saying "if you wish to fill the world with destruction?", and then and there Gerald was cut off, only to speak again when Sonic and Knuckles first came face to face with El Biolizard. Very nice Echidnaguardian. The only problem is that Sonic Team have stated litterally and specifically in an actual direct sentence that Sonic and his friends have ALWAYS lived on normal Earth in the games.

Your theory is excellent speculation for Sonic X, but it can't work in the games continuity. Fortunately, this is the Sonic X forum and not the Sonic General forum, so you still win.


The only thing that confuses me is how could Gerald study the Chaos Emeralds on Earth (in Sonic X), if the Emeralds were in Sonic's world, where they belong?

And as seen in the story,Gerald had a bad accident in the colony,causing the reverse Sonic X,or when another life force brought him back. That's when he studied and studied to learn more and more about both Chaos Control and how the emeralds worked.

I got mine from a public statement from Sonic Team directly. So I'll go with one of these possilibities:

a) You're lying. The nature of the site sounds extremely questionable, and the poorly-picked explanation for why you cannot provide evidence doesn't convince.

B) Sega just doesn't know what Sonic Team ever originally had in mind. They happily licenced SATAM and any number of spin-offs you'd care to mention, so that they'd go with the most recent commercial adapation is more than easily believable. Besides, Sega has only recently become re-affiliated with Sonic Team. It was when Sonic Team had free hands from Sega that they created the Adventure games, and seeing as it's THEIR minds that spawned the original storyline, it would be ridiculous for them to suddenly change it around when they finally got creative rights, and therefore both their statements and the fact of their personally-created games both indicate in large bold flourescent letters, that Sonic and the others have always lived on Earth.
