"team Super" In Sonic Heroes, Disappointing... Options

Before Sonic Heroes came out, there was a lot of speculation around the coming of a fifth team for the final battle. They were called "Team Super" and would be Super Sonic, Super Tails, and Super Knuckles. Indeed, there was a "Team Super", but it was a disappointment. While Sonic became Super Sonic, Tails and Knuckles got gimpy force fields that really served no purpose. A real disappointment. Does anyone out there feel my sorrow?

I'm sad, but for a different reason. I'm sad that there aren't more Sonic games without Super Sonic in it. Oh well.

I do not feel your sorrow.
In fact, I would've been really disappointed if Last Story turned out the way you wanted it to be. It's bad enough that there are now three [adjective]supersonic[/adjective] hedgehogs around, we do not need to have Sonic's uniqueness shredded even more than it has been already.

I never liked Super Tails and Super Knuckles. Super Mecha Sonic was awesome, though, and it had the grace to die and stay dead after being defeated.

in reality, Hyper Tails and Hyper Knuckles/Super Knuckles were just thrown in Sonic 3 cuz they thought (Hey, these people took time to get all these emeralds with these characters, why not add a little extra for them). If you think about, only Super Sonic was really "Incorporated" in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles, because he had the Doomsday Zone, with him being Super/Hyper and flying through Space. That was the only sonic game where the characters had to collect their own emeralds, cuz in the rest, the emeralds got by one was gotten by all, so to conclude, the Shields that Tails and Knuckles recieved were the only things they deserved cuz they really arent meant to by Super/Hyper like Sonic and Shadow.

Yeah I was dissapointed myself. I thought it would of been really neat to have super tails and super knuckles in there IMO.

It's not that I didn't want Super Sonic to be a one-time-only thing.

Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 pulled off Super Sonic really well. He was a surprise in the first one, and a good comeback in the second. Then comes Sonic Advance. Super Sonic's "final boss only" appearance gets annoying. Sonic Advance 2. Even more annoying. Come Sonic Heroes and Sonic Advance 3, the bomb finally explodes inside of me and I finally declare my dislike for Super Sonic. Don't take my post the wrong way, Super Sonic was awesome up until Sonic Heroes and the Sonic Advance series began to push it waaay too far than necessary.

In my opinion, letting people play as Super Sonic in any stage they choose, just makes the game too freaking easy. In Sonic the Hedgehog 2, i could easily have all the Emeralds by Chemical Plant, and in Sonic the Hedghog 3 and Knuckles, id get the regular chaos emeralds from the 2nd or 3rd stage, and from there the game just becomes a cakewalk, with nothing being able to kill you, and it being unlimited, unless you were careless enough to not get rings. I like Super Sonic in the end cuz it wraps up the entire story, by finishing off the person responsible for the troubles. Sure, they should lay off putting it in Space and try different approaches, but i say leave the Super finales.

Super Sonic should be used in finales, but sparingly, maybe once every two or three games? Sonic Battle did an extraordinary job at removing the concept entirely, and you were forced to put your Sonic abilities to the test against a hyped-up robot creature that, at first, is practically impossible to beat. In my opinion, that makes Sonic games much more dramatic.

eh. sonic isnt meant for being super anyways unless its really necassary. the final boss in sonic heroes and sonic advance 1-3 werent really worth turning into super sonic over. but oh well. i guess sonic team thinks everyone likes expecting super sonic near the end of every sonic game. luckily like you said sonic battle was super sonicless.

Knuckles: Yeah, I thought i was gonna be Hyper Knuckles again

Huge fight. Knuckles wins and takes over sonic team. mwahahahah

There is no such thing as Hyper Tails nor Hyper Knuckles except in the comic series (if then) They have only gone Super in the Sonic 3 / S&K games

That doesn't mean that he can't go Hyper in a Sonic game. I guess Sega isn't paying much attention to Archie and how they're messin' with Sega's little blue pal.

7 Emeralds= Super Form


14 Emeralds =Hyper Form


Knux had a hyper form after his super, and so did Sonic.Tails, i dont really know if thats a hyper or super form he has..i assumed Hyper, due to all 14 emeralds

Actually, you need only one Emerald for a Hyper form. Unfortunately, it's the Master Emerald, and you need the 7 Super Emeralds to channel that energy.

I wish people would stop counting fourteen emeralds. There are never more than seven. The Chaos Emeralds BECOME the Super Emeralds, they don't accumulate on top of each other.

Anyways, I was let down at the fact there was no Super Knuckles or Tails in SH. Never played whatever Knuckles's super form was in, and Tails was like the second main character since like... forever. He shoulda had a super form...

It's only fair if Sonic is the only one who can transform. After all, he is the star, and he doesn't have the special fancy abilities that Knuckles, Tails, and the other characters have.

Which is surprisingly a pretty useless ability in the games. Running really fast is usually not helpful as you just end up crashing into an enemy at high speed and getting bumped off a cliff.

But no worries. Insta-shield in Sonic3&Knuckles, and homing attack in the later games put him firmly in the top class of awesome player characters.

True, but you forgot the spindash, wich, may have been diffacult to use wisely in the games, was shown in its true form in Sonic X.
