Fic: Tails Of Destruction Options

*Author's note: this story occurs 10 years in the future, based on events in the comic book...so this has those "unoffical" Freedom Fighters, i.e. Sally, Bunnie, Rotor, etc*
Chapter 1.....
My name is Tails. Or it was Tails. Nowadays I just go by my real name. Miles Prower. I hate that name, but what can you do? I used to be a Freedom Fighter, in the Great War against Dr. Robotnik, or Eggman depending on what you want to call him. I was part of the main core of Freedom Fighters, along with Sonic The Hedgehog, Princess Sally Acorn, Bunnie Rabbot, Rotor the walrus, and Antoine D'Coolette. But that was ten years ago, when there were Freedom Fighters. Sadly, Eggman has captured or killed most of them. I was perhaps the last one. Now, I too have been captured. I sit in this miserable cell of mine, awaiting my fate in the Robotizicer...
I lean back on the cot, close my eyes, and remember the last few weeks of the War...and the way life used to be...carefree and fun...

10 years earlier....

*The radio in my hand crackles to life...*
*Tails...Come in Tails...*
I hear you Sonic. Go ahead. Is everything going according to plan?
*Yes, it's up to you now. Do you understand what you have to do?*
Yes, Sonic. Clearly. I'm to place explosives in Eggman's control room, and then get out of there.
*That's the plan. Just make sure you don't get seen.*
I know, Sonic. I've done this type of thing before.
*I know little bro. I'm just keeping an eye out for you.*
*The radio goes dead*
*Muttering* Man, everyone treats me like a kid. Im a Freedom Fighter. I am grown up, even if Sally and Sonic can't see that.
*I sneak into Robotropolis. Strange. No Swatbots around... What's going on?*
*I sneak around... No sign of any Swatbots anywhere...*
*I grab my radio*
Sonic? Sonic, you there?
Sonic: Yeah, little buddy? What's up?
Me: Sonic, there's something wrong. There's no sign of any Swatbots anywhere in Robotropolis!
Sonic: Hmm....That is strange. No matter, just stick to the plan.
Me: But Sonic, what do you think is going on?
Sonic: Don't question Sally's orders! Just do your job!
Me: Very well Sonic. Tails over and out...
*I put the radio away...*
[thinking] What was that all about? Sonic has never yelled at me before...
*I finally reach the Command Center of Robotnik's empire...*
*I sneak in through a ventilation shaft and enter the main Control Room...*
It's quiet...too quiet...
*I tiptoe over to Robotnik's main computer, and start hacking into it...*
*All of a sudden, the lights come on in the room...*
Robotnik: Well well well...What do we have here?
*GULP!!!*
Robotnik: Did you honestly think you could just waltz in here and do as you pleased?
* I turn around. Robotnik is surrounded by many Swatbots. Maybe every Swatbot in Robotropolis...*
*Having no choice, I put my hands up in surrender...*
Robotnik: Would you like to know how I knew about your little attack?
*He snaps his fingers. A Swatbot thrusts a creature forward*
*I gasp in shock...*
BUNNIE!!!!!!!!!
Bunnie: Sorry, sugah. They took me by surprised. Eggman drugged me into telling him everything. The plan, the location of Knothole...everything. I'm sorry Tails honey...
*I thought of all the innocent Mobians that are going to be killed or robotiziced...*
*Robotnik's laughter wakes me from my thoughts...* Well, Tails, you and Bunnie will have the honor of being Generals in my army, when I launch the Final Assault against Knothole, now that I know the location of it... SEIZE HIM!
*Several Swatbots stomp over to grab me, but I am too quick for them. In several seconds, they are scrap.*
BUNNIE, RUN!
Bunnie: Right behind ya Sugah!
*We run out of the building. I radio Sonic on the walkie*
Sonic, ABORT ABORT ABORT!!!!!!!!!
Sonic: Too late, Tails. I think we've got a problem...[static, then the radio falls silent...]
Me: SONIC? SONIC? SONIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bunnie: Keep running Tails! Back to Knothole before it's too late!!!!!!
Bunnie: RUN, TAILS! RUN!!!
*I run for all I'm worth... I run to I can't breathe anymore, and more...*
*I'm near collapse when I reach the secret entrance to Knothole, and stop short. Something is not right. The Stump has burn marks on it...*
Me: Bunnie, stop! Look!
*I point to the lasermarks...*
Bunnie: Oh, no.... We're too late...
*We creep into Knothole... There are fires and bodies everywhere...We silently make our way to Castle Acorn, avoiding the gazes of the dead Mobians... Death...destruction are everywhere...*
Bunnie: Oh, my...What have I done?
*She falls to her knees and starts weeping...*
*I lean down and put my arms around her...*
Me: It's okay, Bunnie. You couldn't help it. You were drugged. Come on, let's look for any survivors, then we'll go from there. Here, I have an extra radio. [I hand it to her] Take it, use it only in an emergency. We'll meet back here in one hour, with anyone we find still alive.
*We hug for several seconds, then split up to search the ruins of Knothole Village...*
*Sally and I walk out of Castle Acorn and go to the rendezouv (sp) spot to wait for Bunnie. We're about 30 minutes ahead of the sheduled meet time, so Sally and I sit down and relate to each other what happened. I go first*
Me: Well, Aunt Sally--
Sally: Just call me Sally from now on Tails, youre too big to still be calling me Aunt Sally...
Me: Okay, Sally. Well, Sonic and I had the plan down perfectly, and everything was going smoothly at first. I snuck into Robotropolis, and noticed that there were no Swatbots around...
Sally:They were here attacking Knothole.
Me: [nodding] And I radioed Sonic, and he said to just stick to the plan. So I snuck into Eggman's control room. I started hacking into his mainframe, and that's when I was discovered, and when I was united with Bunnie. Eggman had drugged her into revealing the location of Knothole, and the plan. That's how he knew how to find Knothole, and thwart our attack. It's not Bunnie's fault. She couldn't help it. I think...Wait...Why were we able to escape so easily? What if she was working for Eggman? What if she is a traitor...
[Bunnie's voice] So, you finally figured it out, you two-tailed FREAK?
*I turn around and see Bunnie surrounded by 50 Swatbots...*
Me: Bunnie, how could you? How could you let all those Freedom Fighters die?
Bunnie: Eggman showed me the error of my ways.
*She reaches up to her face, and rips off a mask...*
*I gasped...*
Me: You...you've been ROBOTIZICED!!!!!!!!
Bunnie: Yes, and soon you will be too...
*She snaps her fingers, and the Swatbots converge on Sally and me...*
Me: Sally, what do we do now?
*The Swatbots move in closer...*
Sally: I...don't know. I guess we give up...
Me: GIVE UP???! Sally, you feeling okay? The Sally I know would never give up!
Sally: Thats right. Because I'm NOT the Sally you know!
*I gasp and turn around. There's a robot standing where Sally was!
Sally: The real Sally is in Eggman's prison right now. Im an auto-automation. A robot. I was sent here to capture you, and deliever you to Eggman. Now, come along quietly, and you wont get hurt.
ME: NEVER!!!
*I fly up and out of Knothole as fast as I can.*
Man...I don't even know who to trust anymore... I can't tell who's a robot, and who's real...
*I land and lean up against a tree. Suddenly a hand covers my mouth. My eyes go wide and I let out a muffled scream. The mysterious attacker turns me around to face eye to eye. My fear turns to suspicion at the sight of the person.
SP: Tails! Yes it's me. I know about the robot doubles- Sally, Bunnie... Yes, its me. Go ahead, feel my face, I'll prove to you I'm real...
*I reach over and feel the face. Warm and furry...
ME: SONIC!!!! *I hug him gratefully and start crying*
Sonic: Ssshhh... It's okay Tails. Stick with me, I'll get you out of here. Then we'll plan our next move.
*We sit down and start talking about what to do now...*
*Neither of us notice a third person listening in on our plans, and relaying them to Eggman...*
Me: So Sonic, why did you tell me to ignore the missing Swatbot mystery and just stick to the plan?
Sonic: Err...welll... I didn't think it was important, and we did have a schedule to keep. Plus, I didn't think it was something you had to worry about...
Me: okayyyy... So, that's the plan?
Sonic: Yup. You ready, bro?
Me: [sighing] As ready as I'll ever be Sonic.
*We shake hands, and smile at each other. Suddenly Sonic's hand goes rigid*
Sonic: Stay still Tails. Someone's watching us. Act natual, and don't make any sudden moves...
*We turn away, and start walking down the path. Suddenly Sonic turns around, and speeds into the bushes. There is a scream of total pain. Sonic's voice! I rush over, but am too late. Sonic lays motionless in a pool of growing blood. Standing over him is the biggest Swatbot I've ever seen... I turn tail and fly away as fast as possible, tears in my eyes over Sonic's death...*
*I fly as far away and as fast as I can from Sonic's lifeless body...*
Now what do I do? All my friends are either dead or captured...Just I am left. I am now in charge of the Freedom Fighters, or what's left of them... Wait a minute! [I freeze in mid-air] Sally and the others must have planned something in case of such a worse-case scenario like this. They would have had a back-up plan. If I were them, I would have hidden it, not in Knothole, but somewhere where Eggman would never find it, but a Freedom Fighter would... But where?
*I fly down and start walking, thinking hard about where Sally would have hidden that last-action plan...*
Now...I also have another problem. Sally. She is captive at Eggman's base... How do I get in, rescue her, and escape without being detected?
Think Tails. You're the head Freedom Fighter now... At least, until Sally is freed... I know! I'll get the Downunda FFers to help!
*I head to the Bathysphere, and head towards Downunda...*
Well...let's see...It'll take about a week at top speed to reach Downunda... So I'll try to get some sleep in the meantime...
*I head to the back of the Bathysphere, and settle down for a little rest...*
*I arrive at Downunda several days later...I immediately set out to find the Downunda FFers...*
*I am walking around Downunda... Everything is rather quiet... Too quiet... Suddenly I hear footsteps behind me. I speed up, and the footsteps speed up too. I quickly duck behind a tree and wait for whoever is following me to go by. It only takes a few seconds, then a shadow races by. I quickly jump out from behind the tree, and land on top of the figure. We start struggling. I cant get a good look at the person's face, until I hear a whimper come from the stranger. A familiar voice... I immediately halt and stare hard at the face... Could it be?*
Me: Fiona?!
Fiona: Tails? Is that you?
*We sit up and embrace and share a long passionate kiss.*
Me: Oh, Fiona. I was worried about you. I thought Eggman might have captured you again.
Fiona: Not a chance, foxboy. So, what are you doing here in Downunda?
Me: [head dropping] Fiona, the war. It...it's over. Eggman has won. Sally, Bunnie, the others that survived are all robotiziced now... Sonic's dead... The village of Knothole is gone. Destroyed. There's nothing left now...
*Fiona puts her hand to her mouth and gasps*
Fiona: NO... What do we do now?
Me: I don't know. I came here to find the Downunda Freedom Fighters, but now that Ive found you, I'm giving that up. Its just you and me now. Let's go and plan. Let's go underground, until Eggman forgets about us. Its too dangerous now, we won't know whos alive and who's a robot anymore... We've lost the war, but that doesn't mean we've lost hope. As long as you and I are still flesh and fur, we've got a chance. Let's devise a plan to turn the tables on Eggman, no matter how long it takes, and rescue our friends...
Fiona: Very well.
*We set out along the Great Downunda Desert... Always moving. Never staying in one place for more than a week... As they weeks and months pass, we meet other Freedom Fighters who escaped to Downunda as well... Fiona and I get married and have two children... One son, Miles, Jr-complete with two tails- and a daughter, Amy...*

*Several years later*

Me: It's been eight years since Eggman killed Sonic The Hedgehog and nearly wiped out the entire Freedom Fighter resistance, but we've held strong and repelled most of his attacks...but we are on the brink of collapse now...
*The remaining Freedom Fighters from all over Mobius have gathered in Downunda. An emergency meeting has been called, to discuss dire matters...*
Fiona: But, Tails, honey, you're the leader. What do you think we should do? We need to do something, or all is lost...
*A murmur of agreement goes through the group*
Me: Listen, I never asked to be made General, and leader of the Freedom Fighters. I formed this group to be a collaboration of ideas... I cannot lead alone. Ive relied on each and every one of your opinions for the last eight years. And right now, I need each and every one of you. I need your opinions. What do we do?!
*Wombat Stu stood up and addressed the council*
Stu: General, council members, we have to strike NOW! To delay would be costly. We've already lost Sally, Sonic, and countless other Freedom Fighters over the years. When will it end? With all our deaths? I say, attack Eggman now, before it's too late. We are already on the verge of losing this war, to delay would seal our fate.
*Agreement ran through the audience*
*Barabie Koala stood up* No, I disagree. To attack now would seal our fate, rather then help. We are too few in number to win any battles. We must plan a little longer. Council, General Tails, don't send us to our deaths. Do not listen to Stu. Please, do not be the ones to pass our death sentence...
*Agreement ran through the audience...*
*I stood up and addressed the room* Thank you, everyone. The council and I will retire, and deliberate what to do.
*Everyone stood to attention, as the council and I left the Assembly Hall.*
*The council was in recess for several hours, debating the next move.*
*We adjourned for the day, with no decision. We agreed to reconvene the next morning at 7, with any fresh ideas...*
Fiona: Tails, wait up!
*I was heading for my personal chambers, when I heard Fiona call. I waited for her to catch up*
Me: What's up, dear?
Fiona: Tails, come quickly. Some of the engineers have made a breakthrough on one of the top-secret projects, and they want your approval.
Me: Can't it wait? I need some sleep...
Fiona: No, it can't.
Me: [yawning] Yes, it can. Tell them I'll be over tomorrow morning, at 6 am.
*Fiona looked ready to explode. She opened her mouth to say something, then reconsidered.* Very well. Tomorrow morning...
*I entered my house, and plopped down on my bed, and fell asleep.*

*The next morning, I was awakened by a pounding on my door*
*I look up at the clock, and bolt upright, falling off the bed*
Me: Oh, no! Its 8 am! I overslept!
*I splash water on my face, then answer the door. Fiona was standing there, looking worried*
Fiona: Tails, it 8! Where were you?! The meeting was supposed to start at 7! And you promised the engineers youd see their invention at 6!
Me: Sorry. Let's go to the meeting...
*We arrive at the meeting. The hall is full, and the committee members were getting impatient. I went and took my seat at the head of the table.*
Me: Sorry for the delay. Please, be seated.
*I look over the recommedations from the previous meeting, and shuffle them, before a photo catches my eye. I gasp...*
Fiona: Tails, what is it?
Me: No... It can't be.
*I hand the photo to Fiona. Her eyes grow wide in shock...*
Fiona: Sally?! Here in Downunda? I thought she was robotiziced!
Me: So did I... She must have escaped Robotnik somehow...But why has she chosen NOW to appear, after seven years? Something is wrong...
*I look up at the council, who are staring at me...*
Me: Im sorry, ladies and gentlemen, I have an emergency to take care of. Excuse me. This meeting is suspended until further notice.
*Everyone stands as I leave the room with Fiona...*
*Several hours later, I lay hidden in a bush, watching "Sally" walking through the woods, as if looking for something...*
*I nod to Fiona, then when Sally gets close, we jump her... Unfortunately, it was not quite the outcome we were planning... Sally immediately shot off a flash of light, knocking everyone senseless...*

*I awoke several hours later... Exactly how many, Im unable to tell... But what I do know is that Im in a cell in Robotropolis...*
*I sit in the cell, and glance at my watch- the one Sonic gave me for my eighth birthday... Two hours to go... I have to escape. Now. Or not at all...*
*I look around for some tools, or something I can use... Nothing! Suddenly, I hear a pinging on the wall of my cell. Strange...it sounds familiar... like... like MORSE CODE!*
Me: let's see.... s....t....that was an a....n...d....new word....b...a....c....k....end.... Stand back.... STAND BACK?!
*Suddenly a huge explosion rips through the wall... When the smoke clears, Fiona is standing in the hole, holding a hand out...*
Fiona: Come on, Tails! Don't just stand there gaping! RUN!
*Alarms are going off everywhere, and Swatbots are appearing from every direction. I quickly collect my wits, and jump through the hole, and start running for freedom...*
*Fiona and I reach the escape hover-car with about fifty Swatbots on our tails...*
Fiona: Rotor, take off NOW![ hopping inside]
*I barely manage to get inside, when Rotor punches the car up to full throttle. I am thrown back in my seat, as blasts from the Swatbots' guns explode on either side of the car. Thankfully not a single shot hits us. Several hours later, we arrive back a secret hideout near the border of the Great Ocean...*
Fiona: Tails, that was too close! What if you had been killed, or worse?
The entire Freedom Fighter operation would have collapsed!
Me: I- I'm sorry. How was I supposed to know she'd do that?
Fiona: Well, now we've got a serious problem on our hands. Robotnik may know where we are now. We need to make a pre-emptive strike against him, before he does the same to us. We must attack.
Me: Fiona, we don't have a tenth the force he does! We'd be wiped out!
Me: Fiona, what other choice do we have?! This may be our only chance!
Fiona: No, there is another.
Me: Another? What are you talking about?
Fiona: I was talking to Rotor, while we were discussing how to rescue you, he mentioned that he was working on a time machine. He says this timeline should never have happened. Sally and Sonic should still be alive. He made it so four people could go back in time. We have a chance to change history, Tails. To set things right.
Me: Four people huh? Well, I'm one. Who are the others?
Fiona: Me, silly. I'm not letting you go back in time, and wiping me out. And Rotor has two others already ready to go with us, as a last resort. He has the portal nearly complete.
Me: Well....it's risky, but it's better than my plan. Okay, let's go see Rotor...
*We arrive at Rotor's lab, and find him loading the "surprise" onto the hovercar. I look outside, and notice a large ringlike device sitting out in a clearing.*
Me: Is that what I think it is Rotor?
Rotor: Yes, Tails. That's the time machine. Though it isn't operational quite yet. Another day or two, then I might be able to do some test runs on it.
Me: No time for tests Rotor. I need that operational now. If Sally is around, that means Eggman may be close to discovering Knothole's location. And if he is, then we're all in danger.
Fiona: He's right, Rotor. Though I wish he wasn't. So, it looks like we're going to be the guinea pigs on this experiment.
Me: Yes, and if something goes wrong, we're done for. We could become trapped in limbo, or could overshoot the time I want to go to, and we'll be stuck there.
Rotor: What time do you want to go to?
Me: What else? The day Sally and Sonic died, as a result of my mistake. I'll finally have a chance to set things right.
Rotor: Do you know what could happen? Things could end up worse than they already are, Tails. You could wipe us all out.
Me: I already thought about that Rotor. But it's better than living under that despot Robotnik. What choice do we have? I made a mistake that day. This is my chance to correct it.
Fiona: OUR chance, Tails.
Me: No, mine Fiona. You weren't there that day. I was, and because of me, my two closest friends lost their lives. I've lived with that fact every day of my life.
Rotor: I hate to interrupt such a lovely arguement, but the security radar has picked up bogeys. Dozens of them!
Me: Oh, crud.
*I rush over and turn on the external cameras. My face goes white, as I recongize them...*
Me: Swatbots... Well, no more time to argue, Fiona. We leave now!
*I grab Fiona's arm, and rush into the hovercar, and start it up. Rotor hurries over and turns on the time portal... The oval object begins rotating, and a blue vortex appears in the middle of it... Just large enough to fit a hovercar in...*
*Then, all hell breaks loose, as the Swatbots invade Knothole, firing lasers all over the place. Fiona and I can hear the screams of pain, and terror as citizens flee in terror. In mere moments, all of Knothole is in flames... I slowly manuever the hovercar into the portal, just as a stray laserbeam hits the right engine. The hovercar spins around, throwing Fiona and I sideways against our seats as we enter the vortex, and hurtle back in time. The last thing I see of this hellish time, is Robotnik laughing triumphantly at his apparent victory, then he sees my face, and calls to some Swatbots. His face then falls into fear, as he realizes whats happening, and then, all is dark and silent...*
*Bright lights appear around us, though distorted...I look over to Fiona, and am amazed... She is distorted as well... She appears to be in several locations at once, one behind the other. It must be the effects of time travel... I probably look the same way... The physics are mind-boggling. I turn back to the front viewscreen, and then down to the control panel, watching for the precise moment to drop out of the timewarp.*
Me: 5...4...3...2...1...NOW!
*I push a button, and suddenly everything slows dramatically. It feels like I'm being stretched apart, then snap back together. It goes dark again, and controls explode from the stress. Sparks shoot everywhere. I struggle to maintain control, and keep the ship from breaking up. Then, a bright light floods the entire hovercar, and blinds me and Fiona. When we can see again, I look out of the hovercar and notice that we're precisely where I want to be.*
Fiona: "Tails, where or when are we?"
Me: "We're about two hours before Sally and Sonic die, about 100 yards that away..."[pointing North]
Fiona: "Are you sure?"
Me: "Yes. See that tree with the two trunks? That's the tree I hid in after Sonic was killed. Or will be killed I should say. Now, the trick is not to let my younger self see us. The results could be disastrous."
Fiona: "Tails, where or when are we?"
Me: "We're about two hours before Sally and Sonic die, about 100 yards that away..."[pointing North]
Fiona: "Are you sure?"
Me: "Yes. See that tree with the two trunks? That's the tree I hid in after Sonic was killed. Or will be killed I should say. Now, the trick is not to let my younger self see us. The results could be disastrous."
Me: "Okay, the first thing we have to do, is rescue Bunnie, before she's drugged, and tells Robotnik everything, and Sally too... So, I need you to go after Sally, and I'll go after Bunnie. That should save Sonic, since Knothole won't fall to Robotnik since Bunnie won't tell him anything, and that will keep Sonic safe. Okay?"
Fiona: "But if they see us as older selves of us, won't they get suspicious?"
Me: "Maybe, so just tell them what you need to, but DON'T give away too much information. You don't want to accidently wipe us out, before we save the future."
Fiona: "Okay, when should we meet back here?"
Me: "As soon as you finish saving Sally, take her to Knothole with this portable transporter.[I toss her a small wristwatch-like device] Just push the button on the right. Rotor has already installed Knothole's coordinates into it. Oh, and if you run into the auto-automation of Sally, KILL IT! Once Sally is safe, transport back here immediately. If I don't show within an hour after you come here, take off, and head back for our time. [I put my hand up to silence her] NO arguments. I outrank you, remember. That is a direct order, from your superior, not your spouse.
Fiona: "Alright, alright. Can we get this over with? This makes me nervous..."
*We share a quick kiss. Miles Jr and Amy coo at that. I jump, haven completely forgotten about them.*
Me: "Amy, you're in charge here. MJ, listen to your sister. Don't stray from the area. We may have to leave in a hurry, so we can't afford to have to look for either of you. Got it?"
*They both nod, and exchange sly glances.*
Fiona: "I saw that look, you two! Listen to your father!"
Amy: "Yes, Mother."
*Fiona and I disembark, and head towards Robotropolis. We reach the outskirts of the city without any trouble. I nod to her, and we split up, Fiona heading towards Sally's location, me towards Bunnie's...*
*I follow the streets trying to pick up any signs of Bunnie's lifesigns on my tracker...*
Me: Aha! That way!
*I put the tracker away, and hurry towards a building on the outskirts of Robotropolis, taking care to hide at the first sign of Swatbots... I finally reach the place with about 45 minutes left... I sneak in, and find Bunnie alone tied to a chair, in the middle of the room. She seems out cold...*
Me: Hang on, Bunnie. I'm getting out of here, and back to Knothole where you belong.
*Bunnie stirs and looks up.*
Bunnie: Who-who are you, sugah?
Me: A...a friend. Miss Bunnie Rabbot, isn't it?
Bunnie: Whay, yes Ah am. How did ya know mah name?
Me: That's not important Miss Rabbot. What is is that you are in grave danger here. Robotnik is on his way to force you to reveal the location of Knothole, and then robotizice you. I must get you out of here before that happens.
Bunnie: Tell Butt-nik where Knothole is? Ah'll never do such a thang!
Me: He'll drug you. He'll give you some kind of truth serum.
Bunnie: Oh, mah stars! Get me outta here!
*Bunnie starts struggling against the ropes.*
*BOOM!*
Voice: WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?! WHO ARE YOU?!
Bunnie: Robotnik!
*Great... Just what I DIDN'T need!*
Me: Who am I? Nobody you need to know, Ro-butt-nik. I'll be taking Miss Rabbot, and leaving. I don't recommend you follow. You wouldn't like what would happen.
Robotnik: HOW DARE YOU TALK TO ME THAT WAY!!! SWATBOTS! CAPTURE THAT FOX AND RABBIT!!!
Me: Hang on tight, Miss Rabbot.
*I open my belt, and pull out a round ball-like object.*
Bunnie: What's that, sugah?
Me: A thermobomb. Hang on, it's going to very rough.
*I push a button on the bomb, and toss it to Robotnik, then dive out of the nearest window, calling back to Robotnik.*
Me: Catch, Robotnik!
*I run about five paces, with Bunnie cradled in my arms, when a loud <WHOOOSH! KABLLLLAMMMMM!!!> hit my ears. The shockwave knocked me forwards. I drop Bunnie, and we both go sprawling. We sit up and both look back at the shack. It is in ruins, completely ablaze...
Bunnie: Ya thinks Robotnik survived that sugah?
Me: Knowing him, yes. That was merely to aid in our escape. I'll explain everything shortly. You head on back to Knothole, and keep your eye on Sonic. Don't let him leave the village. Don't ask questions, Miss Rabbot. Just please do as I ask!
*Bunnie was about to protest, then looked in my eyes, and understood. She nodded, and headed back towards Knothole.*
*I pick up my comm, and patch Fiona's code into it.*
Me: Fiona, it's Tails. Bunnie is safe. How's it going with Sally?
Fiona's voice: I'm pinned down by the robot double of her. I need assistance!
Me: Okay, hang tight! I'm on my way!
*I put the comm away, and start running towards Fiona's position...*
*It takes a few minutes, but I reach Fiona and find her hiding behind a table, while Sally's double fires lasers overtop of it, trying to hit Fiona... I duck down and join her.*
Fiona: Welcome to the party, honey. What took ya?
Me: Sorry, was rescuing Bunnie. She's on her way back to Knothole, to keep an eye on Sonic. Robotnik is out of commision for a bit, so we won't have to worry about him just yet. Now, how do we deal with her?[nodding to the auto-automation]
Fiona: I don't know. I can't get a clean shot at her. And time's running out for the real Sally. We got to do something, and fast. Or Sally is done for, and history will continue...for the worst...
*I looked at my watch*
Me: Damn...we got ten minutes to rescue Sally, before she's robotiziced...
*I peek up, checking where the robot is. I quickly duck down, just in time to avoid a laser shot that scorches my head fur...*
Fiona: Well, if ya have a plan, now's the time, honey.
*I look over and notice something over on the wall. I glance back towards where the robot should be, and back to the object.*
Me: I do, actually. You see that button over there on the wall?
Fiona: Yea, what about it?
Me: How good a shot are you?
Fiona: Dead on. Why?
Me: Look above her.
*Fiona looked up, and saw a large steel beam directly above the auto-automation... She grinned.*
Fiona: I see. That button is probably the release switch... Give me cover fire for a moment.
*I nod and stand up, shooting my blaster at the evil machine. Fiona aims and throws a small stone. It hits the button dead center. The steel beam drops dead center onto the robot, crushing it instantly.*

*I nod in satisfaction.*
Me: Okay, that takes care of the next step... All that's left is to rescue Sally, and we're done... Easier said than done, I know...
Fiona: Well, we got this far. Though rather easily... I don't like it.
Me: EASILY?! You call facing that THING easy?!
Fiona: Yeah, well compared to what we've faced in our time, it was relatively easy.
Me: You're right there, dear. Now, let's go rescue Sally. We've only got-[checking my watch]- seven minutes...
*We hop over the ruined remains of the auto-automation, and down the passage, towards Robotnik's robotizicing room. I whip out my blaster, shooting several Swatbots along the way, but not before one is able to activate the alarms...
Me: [muttering] Damn! Now the entire base knows where we are!
Fiona: Don't worry, Tails. We're almost....there... Crud!
*We stop at an intersection. Each direction has twenty Swatbots. The corridor straight ahead has Robotnik standing in front of that group.
Robotnik: Well, well, well, fox. We meet again... And this time, you won't beat me with a thermobomb. Your time is up. Surrender to the great Robotnik!

Me: Damn!
*Fiona and I stand back to back, awaiting the inevitable. Suddenly a rope ladder falls down out of nowhere, and a voice calls out.*
Amy: Mom! Dad! Up here, quickly!
*I scowl, but without a word, we quickly start climbing. I pause and shoot at Robotnik to create a distraction. He dives for cover.*
Robotnik: SHOOT THEM! SHOOT THEM!!!!!
Me: MJ, get us out of here! Head for Robotnik's control room! Amy, we want a word with you when we land!

*A few moments later, MJ lands the hovercar outside the window of the control room. I fire a shot, shattering the glass instantly.*
Me: Okay, I'll be right back with Sally in a minute. Fiona, take the controls. MJ, Amy, go in back and hide. Things are going to be tough enough to explain to Sally without you two here for us to explain. Fiona, toss me Nicole.
