I'm not sure if anyone else realized this but Yugi Naka might not be the real creator for our Blue Blur. I was watching my GBA Video of A Super Sonic Hero today on the way home from school, and I was bored enough to watch the credits. I noticed something at the end of thsoe credits and there was a slide that said: ORIGINAL CREATOR OF CHARACTERS. And I was kinda shocked to see that it did not say Yugi Naka. A very similar name, but it said Yugi Uewaka. If anyone has a Game Boy Advance Sonic X Video, fast forward any episode to the credits and watch. It will be at the top of the screen towards the end.
I'd be REALLY embarassed if this is already sorted out, but does this come shocking to anyone else? -------------------- |

Yeah I saw that back when I was watching Sonic X on FoxBox.
Maybe he created some of the characters in the show. |

Yugi Naka is the executive producer, but I guess we all thought that he CREATED Sonic. I was sad after seeing it...

First off, the name is Yuji Naka. Not Yugi Naka

Maybe the prototype characters were created by Yuji Uewaka & the official characters were made by Yuji Naka.

You got this all right. Yuji Naka was the original creator of Sonic. He was just the executive producter of Sonic X. He's the real creator. Naoto Oshima joined Sonic Team with Yuji Naka to create Sonic with him. |

Yuji Naka did create Sonic, but he didn't make his design.
In the credits for the GBA video, it said "Character Designer" not "Character Creators". It was Yuji Naka's desision what color they should be, and what kind of animal, ect. but, he didn't draw them or anything. So you can say Yuji Naka created Sonic Team which created Sonic. So I guess the essense is that Yuji Naka created the character Sonic the Hedgehog, but Naoto Oshima decided what he was going to look like.
Dual credit, maybe? -------------------- Living up to other people's expectations is nice, but what really matters is that you live up to your own. And you know what, I think you're doing pretty darn well so far, don't you?

The Credits say that the Original Character Deisgns are Yuji Uewaka.
The executive producer is Yuji Naka. I remember reading an interciew with Naka, he said that he comes up with the Video Game ideas. Such as Sonic Advance 3 where you choose 2 characters. (instead of 1) So I think that Uewaka did the prototypes. And maybe Naka did the final/official version that we all know and love! Naoto Oshima invented the character designs for Sonic and Eggman. I THINK that Yuji Naka just drew the backgrounds for Sonic 1. I think peopple get them confused because
1) Naoto Oshima left Sonic Team after Sonic the Hedgehog 1 came out to make his own company, Artoon. and 2) Yuji Naka is the current leader of Sonic Team. That is all I know. I'm not quite sure that it's right. |

Speaking of which, doesn't Sonic's character design look almost similar to Mickey Mouse' 1930s character design? Well, minus the ears and tail.

Sonic the Rabbit (conveniently visible in SonicX's sig) looked a definite rip-off of Felix the Cat. Sonic the Hedgehog, however, not so much.
