Chapter 1

Dr. Eggman is sitting in his chair, shuffling threw his deck, trying to decide which robot to use to attack Station Square. “Hmm. Perhaps I’ll use two this time,” he mutters to himself.
“But Dr. Eggman.” Bocoe says. “You have always used just one.”
“Well I want to use two now,” Dr. Eggman says. “And I will.” He presses a button and a deck shuffler opens, in which he puts his deck. He then presses a button and slot machine plays on his main screen. It lands on three pictures of a robot resembling a red Jet Fighter. “Firebird! This will do nicely against the Hedgehog!” he laughs and raises his hand, prepared to press the button again.
“Wait, Dr. Eggman!” Bokkun declares, stepping out of the shadows.
“What!” Dr. Eggman yells, spinning around. “Oh, Bokkun. It’s you.”
“I want to choose the next robot. I promise it will be a good choice,” Bokkun smiles and rubs his hands together.
Dr. Eggman scratches his chin, deep in thought. “Oh, why not. Here, have a look.” Dr. Eggman presses a button, removes the deck from the shuffler, and hands it to Bokkun. He shuffles through the deck, carefully selecting the ones that catch his attention. Soon, he holds five cards in his hand and shows them to Dr. Eggman. “Ooooh.” Dr. Eggman declares. “You have chosen five very good ones! Now pick the one you think is the best.”
“I choose… this one!” Bokkun yells, pulling the middle card out of his other hand and handing it to Dr. Eggman.
“Aaah! Hedgehog Stomper! Very nice!” Dr. Eggman takes the card and inserts it into the deck slot. Hedgehog Stomper is a walker with six legs, two missile turrets on its back, and five independent lasers on the head. “Now I’ll make three Firebirds and two Hedgehog Stompers!” Dr. Eggman presses a few buttons and runs to the Eggmobile. “Ahahaha! I’ll start the Eggman Empire with Station Square, and kill Sonic!” Dr. Eggman yells happily and then flies out of Eggfort.
He locks in coordinates for the center of the city, and starts towards it. Just as he and his five robots reach the edge of the city, his radar picks up a fluctuating power signature! “A Chaos Emerald! This is an unexpected surprise. No doubt the Hedgehog has picked up on it too. I’ll obtain the emerald and use it to power the Egg Carrier’s new and improved Egg Cannon, hehehe.” He directs his five robots towards the power source, having the three Firebirds fly ahead to secure it for himself. Once he arrives, he sees Sonic running around on the ground, avoiding lasers and being tailed by three missiles. “Go Hedgehog Stompers! Stomp the Hedgehog!” Dr. Eggman orders. The two Walkers knock over trees as they engage Sonic. They fire two missiles each and begin to fire their lasers, always missing. Now 7 seven missiles trail Sonic. He runs up the leg of one of the Walkers, and allows the missiles get close. Then he leaps into neighboring trees and the missiles detonate on the walker. It falls to its side and explodes. Two of the five lasers on the other walker direct themselves at Sonic, but before they can fire, Knuckles jumps out of the trees and punches the front left leg, snapping it in one hit. The leg buckles and falls to its side, and explodes as well. Dr. Eggman, seeing his two walkers have been destroyed, quickly lowers the Eggmobile’s robotic arm upon the green emerald, but halfway down his radar blips. He looks up and sees the X Tornado flying towards him. He quickly turns the Eggmobile to face Tails and fires two missiles at him. Tails evades the missiles, but they begin to tail him. “Hahahaa!” Dr. Eggman laughs, and then grabs the emerald and begins to pull it up towards the Eggmobile. When it is halfway up, Knuckles jumps out of the trees and grabs the emerald, and says, “I’m giving the Chaos Emerald to Sonic!” Sonic spins up a tree and goes through one of the Firebirds and then comes down through a second one. He lands in the top of a tree and watches the X Tornado and the last Firebird fly straight towards each other, both firing their guns. At the last second, the X Tornado goes over Firebird, and then descends to be even with it again, and then flies away. The two missiles that were trailing the X Tornado detonate with the Firebird, destroying it.
“Eh, Eggman can’t make anything good,” Sonic says, turning around. He sees Knuckles hanging from the arm of the Eggmobile, with his hands clasped on the Chaos Emerald. He jumps to the ground and then spins up a tree, aiming for the Eggmobile. But Dr. Eggman dodges and flings the arm up, whipping Knuckles hard onto Sonic. Sonic pulls out of the spin just as he collides with Knuckles, and then grabs hold of the emerald. Sonic then looks up at Dr. Eggman and says angrily, “You won’t get this one Eggman!”
Dr. Eggman laughs and says, “Yes I will hedgehog!” The arm flails around, and almost hits the X Tornado with Sonic and Knuckles. Dr. Eggman, remembering that his first two missiles hit his Firebird and that the X Tornado had already been damaged, says, “Hehe, you won’t escape these,” and then fires his machine gun. One of the wings of the X Tornado is hit many times near the body of the craft.
“Oh no!” Tails says. “I’ve been hit! I’m losing altitude!” Tails presses a few buttons and transforms the X Tornado into its X winged form. He turns the X Tornado around, but it is too late. Sonic and Knuckles both count to three and then pull as hard as they can. Suddenly the emerald actives! Bright, green light flares from deep within the emerald. It shines brightly, blinding everyone. Tails turns around and lands the X Tornado. Sonic and Knuckles release the emerald and fall hard to the ground as they shield their eyes. After the light fades, Tails looks to where the emerald was. In its place is a green, blob-like circle attached to the Eggmobile’s arm. Suddenly, another flare of light blinds the group, and the sound of a rocket engine fills the air, and then fades quickly into the countryside. All three unshield their eyes after the light fades and look in the direction that the sound faded. They all see a robotic man, resembling Dr. Eggman, fly behind a mountain a mile away. Then the circle flares bright light again and then the sound of rocket engines invade the ears of the group again. But this time the sound stays close, raising above the Eggmobile. Once the light fades, the four open their eyes and find that the circle has disappeared and the Chaos emerald has sent itself to another part of the planet. Hovering above them in a standing position is an armored soldier. The soldier’s armor is jet black and he has the same shape of a human being: About six feet tall, from head to foot. Where the eyes would be is a curved, dark red visor running from one side of his head to the other. Above the visor is a small dark red lens, no bigger than the back of a thumbtack. On his back is a rocket thruster with three missile tips pointing out of the top. Protruding diagonally up from both of the soldier’s wrists is a pair of small gun barrels, pointed away from his body. On the back of both his legs is a cylinder, about five inches in diameter, that runs from just under his knee, to just above his heel. He looks around and then focuses on Dr. Eggman. Pointing at Dr. Eggman, the soldier emits a monotone robotic voice: <Sarmon letson martek.>
