I got my SGC copy yesterday (August 17th) I was so glad when I got it!

Now after having played all the games of the disc, I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't have gotten it. Don't get me wrong, Sonic the Fighters is awesome, but I've never been a huge fan of Sonic CD or Sonic R. And, the GG games aren't that great. I do however, like the Vectorman games. Sonic Gems is good, but to me, (a cheapskate) I don't think it was worth the money. (It wasn't as good as Mega Collection)

Overall: 6/10

Sonic Mega Collection Overall: 9/10

(Every now and then I get these urges to play the old school Sonic games. But I can't see myself playing these games very often.)

I can't wait for Shadow The Hedgehog!!!!!!!!!!!

PS. Please don't turn this into a bashing topic.

I just got the game a few hours ago (wasn't lying when I put *goes to get Sonic Gems* in my posts* And it were t3h bom! Sonic the Fighters is MUCH better in normal speed, and I learned a heckuva lot of moves, Sonic R is better with the music, and I can finally play Sonic CD on a console! I wish they put SegaSonic and Knuckles Chaotix on, but meh. ANyway, the bonus features are kinda lacking as there were only works of art and the song player (as far as I know) even though it said on the box there would be movies and stuff. (liars) But, overall, I give it a 9/10. Definatelly worth $30 plus tax.

I think the review speaks my opinion. I knew the game would be bad, so i'll keep my cash to myself until Shadow and/or Sonic Rush comes around. Sonic Gems doesnt seem like its worth the money, since Sonic CD is just a rehash of Sonic 1 (in my opinion, even though Sonic CD is pretty good), Sonic the fighters which I have on my computer but its laggy. Its just another fighter anyway. And Sonic R seems waaaay too short. Dont get me started with the Gamegear games either.

I know, i'm judging this game before i've even gotten my hands on it, but i've seen pretty okay reviews about this game, and I dont want to make another mistake by buying a game I have no idea about. So again, i'll just rent this one.

I love Sonic Gems Collection. It's so cool to finally play Sonic CD on my TV screen and with a controller. It's also my first time playing Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters, and they turned out to be a blast. I have yet to try the Game Gear games. This collection will keep me occupied for a while.

I really like this game, Sonic the Fighters is SO addicting, but Fang is a pain in the arse to fight. x_X
And the game remixes *kinda* suck. >_<

It's pretty great... but a few things about it kind of annoy me... so I give it a 7/10... now to try to beat all the games in an attempt to oneday unlock everything... a couple of the unlock pictures..

*spoilers*

The ones you get by watching the credits 10 times through... scared me... Treasured something... I have no clue what the heck those are from, but they frighten me... O_o

I brought it Wednesday from EB and was all hyped to play it...but when I did, I realized I wasn't very satisfied with it. Sonic CD is sorta fun (I still have to figure it out, I don't understand the good future thing, please no teasing!)Sonic The Fighters, I beat the whole thing on one try (not bragging, it's just easy), and Sonic R I've only versed my friends. As far as the GG games, they're all right, but I played them all on Sonic Adventure DX. Unlockables was a big disappointment... I was hoping for movies(which I heard there are some?)I really hoped Sonic Team would've had the sense to put Knuckles Chaotix and maybe Sonic Jam or Sonic 3D Blast for SS in, but noooooo we can't have that now can we? And as far as music...the slow backround music bothers me, it's just not sonic material, they need some ska or rock based menu music, because it's fast paced and matches our favorite blue hedgehog. And isn't a collection supposed to portray the character from then to now? In Gems all I see is the old Sonic(nothing wrong with him, I've just grown more fond of the new one!) All in all, Gems just isn't what I expected it to be...maybe they'll make another*blackmails SEGA and all affiliates(just kidding)

PS-Vectorman is fun, but alas, I've already beaten those on genesis too...

All in all, I enjoy SMC better. But I bought SGC mainly for Sonic CD, Vectorman is cool too but it just doesn't seem to be as fun for some reason. Maybe I'm just not in a Sonic mood. dry.gif

Oh yeah, my thoughts are also here:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/gamecube/review/R91139.html

But I'm not sure I should write reviews anymore, close to 400 people have read it based upon my GameFAQs stats... but one person rated it and gave the review as a whole a 2/10... sad.gif probably cause I only gave the game a 7/10 and gripped about how it annoyed me most of the review tongue.gif

Well, I've got my copy at EB Games the day it came out, and so far, I'm pretty hooked. I just have different feelings towards different games, though.

Sonic CD: It's as awesome as any critic would say (well, with the exception of Shmek and SonicX). I mean, it was like the only decent Sega CD game there was. I just have a few problems figuring out the bonus stages and the Past-Future system, though.

Sonic the Fighters: Not too hard to figure out, except I was never good at memorizing those button combos and trying to pull them off before my dallying character got nailed by my opponent. So I just simply like to mash the hell out of my buttons and hope that I win easily. (So says the guy who cheaply uppercuts his opponents to death in Mortal Kombat II.)

Sonic R: Props to Sega for touching up the graphics in this game, but I'm beginning to see where the camera problems and confusing control for the newer 3D Sonic games came from. And with only five racetracks, there isn't much replay value for this one, save for the four Time Trail variations and five unlockable characters (which reminds me, I unlocked Eggman last night, but I don't know how to unlock the other four). All in all, though, it's about average.

Sonic 2 GG: Well, I'm glad this isn't an exact portable version of the console game, but it could be better.

Sonic Spinball: Bleck. Pretty much the same levels and gameplay as seen in the Genesis version, but everything seems to move slower. I know a lot of people hate Spinball no matter what console is on, but if you were force to choose between the two versions, stick with the Genesis one.

Sonic Triple Trouble: It's actually kind of good, since it plays like Sonic Chaos (another GG game that was pretty enjoyable). It just happens to throw in Knux and Fang as NPCs.

Sonic Drift 2: Well, it's no Super Mario Kart, and the handling of the cars is a bit loose (I found myself going off track at the turns numerous times...or maybe that was the way I played). Could've been better.

Tails' Skypatrol: I'm still getting the hang of the gameplay, but even so, it kinda stinks. By the way, has anyone else noticed that when you hold down the button to spin the ring around Tails, his pointing hand looks like he's giving the finger? If you look really closely, you'll see what I mean.

Tails Adventures: Well, I have to say this now: In a game series that involves intense high speeds, this game doesn't really cut it. True, people like Infy would enjoy it for the sake of Tails being the hero, but I found it frustrating. I can't even get past the first level because of that darn wind factor implanted in it's second part. But I like that he can throw bombs, so...meh.

Vectorman/Vectorman 2 (combining the two, since they're pretty much the same gameplay-wise): They're awesome, much better than I expected. Graphics like these would make even the Donkey Kong Country series look like Super Mario World. By the way, I unlocked the first one right off the bat for some reason, and the second one after about playing the other games for longer than I thought I did.

All in all, this collection is above average. My one last complaint, however, echoes that of EGM's and possibly everyone else's: where's Knuckles Chaotix and SegaSonic the Hedgehog? They could just replace those GG games with those two games.

And on a final note, if you view the virtual manual for Sonic 2 GG, there's an ad on the back page for Streets of Rage. Don't you feel taunted by Sega when you see that?

To unlock the other four, you have to collect all 5 coins hidden throughout the tracks and finish the race (I don't think your rank is important), you'll then face the secret character in a one-on-one race, win to get them. Also, there's a fifth secret character, who you get by collecting all the emeralds (hidden throughout the first four tracks), you can get them in any order, but you need to finish in first place to keep them. Most are hidden behind the doors you have to unlock with rings. Once you have all 7, you'll see the new character on the character select, though I won't say who it is for spoilers sake (though you'll probably guess who it is by the method of unlocking).

As for Sonic 2, I don't know WHY they used the Game Gear version, the tiny screen makes it very hard, boss fights especially. The Master System version is the same game, but with a bigger playing field (as in, you can see more of the screen at one time, you know, it's more zoomed out). It's a shame, coz the Master System Sonic games are awesome, but the Game Gear versions are terrible.

When unlocking other characters in Sonic R your rank is important, you have to be in the top 3 and if you have Chaos Emeralds first place as you said.

Many of the shortcuts, Chaos Emeralds and even some of the tokens are hidden behind ring doors, so be sure to keep rings to open them, and if you hit a boost pad it takes all of your rings away so if you wnat to open doors try to avoid them.

No, it only takes 50 rings, but if you have 50 or less, then it takes all of them away.

I liked it overall, but it had its ups and downs. For one the game gear games seem to be very poorly emulated, as some of them include late/unresponsive button reactions, the weird looking grey bars aside the game, and the fact that the Sega voice clip is in HORRIBLE quality, and could have been improved. Sonic CD. I have always loved this game. I already owned this game for Sega CD, but was very interested to see what changed were made on Gems Collection. I was happy to see that the poorly compressed pixelated, watered down intro was replaced with the full, uncut, full screen, full motion intro from Jam and Mega Collection. As I moved on into the actual game, however, I was dissapointed to discover that this was in fact the PC version, which, all in all, has worse performance than the Sega CD original. (yes, apart from the fact that it only featured one soundtrack internationally) As I played on, I also discovered that this version of the game also spawned its own fair share of new problems. The one that bugged me the most was the fact that the water colors in Tidal Tempest were missing, which is very odd. Did someone deliberately go into the game and remove them? I also noticed a few bugs in the movement engine. All in all, Sonic CD was a good addition, but it would have been a WHOLE lot better if they had given players the opportunity to play the original Sega CD version. Next, Sonic R. I have never played the Saturn version of this, so a few features were unfamiliar to me. What was strange was that there were some features I recognized from the PC version in the Gems version, and some features I didn't recognize, which I assume come from the saturn version. This is a very good game, and a great addition to the collection. I had very little problems with it. Last is Sonic the fighters, which I have never played before, but enjoyed very much. All in all I give this game 8 out of 10, because Sonic R and Sonic the Fighters are very fun, and now I don't have to screw around with the 15-year old hardware if I don't feel like it to play Sonic CD.

I would have gotten rid of both Vectorman games and replaced them with Knuckles Chaotix, since they already have an arcade game in the form of Sonic the Fighters on the collection.

Agghh, gotta wait a little longer for it's european release. To be honest, I'm really just in it for Sonic CD, everything else is a Bonus, and Considering the Price will be a mere £20, I think that's a real Bargin! Especially over usual £40 price tag.

The Problem I'm having is, whether to buy for GC or (my new) PS2. Because the PS2 version that's being released over in europe will contain Streets of Rage 1, 2 and 3 rather than Vectorman 1 and 2.

I like the Streets of Rage games as I used to play 'em when I was younger, and despite hearing good things, I've never played a vectorman game, are they any good?

Also Is there much difference between the two versions other than these alternate unlockable games? If so, I'd gladly appreciate the know.

Didn't SEGASonic Championship use an emulator? Including SEGASonic Arcade would be way too easy for them to be unable to include it. They either forgot it exists or didn't want to include it.

I like the Collection so far. happy.gif I been playing Sonic the Fighters and Sonic R the most (some reason I'm hooked on them). Sonic CD, the game is alright but it's not as great as what people hype it up to be, IMO since it's my first time playing the game and I'm still confuse about the whole Time Travel thing. The GameGear games I haven't bothered to play yet, and I only played alittle bit of VectorMan. So far I'm trying to focus on unlocking everything in the museum, and I only unlocked some official pics so far and some rare Sonic pics I haven't seen before. Anyway, this collection is pretty fun and it's worth the $30. happy.gif

Well, I got to play SGC today with permission from my little brother, so....

Here's da' view:

Well, the menu set-up is adequate, considering you need to unlock stuff to build it up as you go along. Not bad. Though it could've used a wee bit more than Sonic Jam artwork and remixes for unlockables in Extras.

I've played Sonic the Fighters, and it's pretty awesome. The combos are a total pain to grasp, especialla against Tails and Fang. Fang is very consistant in this game and a pain to beat. Tails took a while to beat, too. Heck, the game is addicting any way you look at it. =P

I've played Sonic R before Gems, and the glitches in the camera angles(common flaw in Sonic 3D games =P), graphics were somewhat cubeish in a way that things went somewhat off-balance. But I love Sonic R's music. It's rather cute and cheery. happy.gif

I've only played the Sonic CD computer version with Kenny, and it's a pretty decent game. Though I have yet to see the Gems version with Gamecube controls =P

Sonic Gems Collection gets a 9.5 outta 10. Nice game collection on one shiney disc.

It was more likely how it would work with a regular controler. Since it was played with a trackball, it would be hard to replicate that same feeling without making it too easy or too difficult on a regular controler.
